Hi,
Many patients with sleep apnea find it difficult to wear a full face mask with CPAP usage. I would suggest that you speak with your CPAP provider of services and inquire about having one of the masks made by Fisher-Pakel. The "Opus" model is especially good and has a good fit for most patients. It is lightweight and the mask fits with a good seal and is used directly into the nostrils. There are different sizes of nasal inserts which are made of silicone which can be tried to see which fits your nostril size best. Patients with full face masks report that the mask I have described are much preferred to using the full face masks. The headgear is much less cumbersome, the headgear and nasal inserts are also lighter and fit well. I think if you work with your CPAP provider they will be able to help you find a more workable solution. In event your CPAP provider does not supply this particular brand or model, ask what other nasal delivery CPAP's they have and try this.
It takes time to be able to adjust to CPAP, headgear and delivery systems. However, I do believe if you meet with your CPAP provider, they will be able to fit you with a better CPAP delivery. The suggested Opus model is especially helpful and patients also like this because they can wear their glasses and not have mask and headgear in the way.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank you for your question and best of luck to you!.
