2nd time smoking cigarettes... pain in throat... why/how?
Sent to Health Experts August 07 12:29 AM

Hi,

I've only tried smoking a couple times (Marlboro red, filtered) and each time I do, when I breathe in, I think it is my throat that feels like its burning... or at least there is SOME kind of pain going on there, it sort of feels like a burn or something, and I start coughing.

What is this?
Whats causing it?
How do I make it stop or when does it stop?

I've only tried smoking twice but this happens each time I inhale.

Thanks!

Hi,

What you are experiencing is your body's natural reaction to smoke.Initial smokers do have this experience.
Some people even throw up.
The irritants in the cigarette smoke are causing it.Inspite being filtered a lot of toxins go in with smoke.

Reply to haloprecious's Post: Hi,

Thanks for the response! It was helpful.
I am just wondering though, (I am not in any way interested in continuing long term) but will that feeling stop? I am sure its different for other people, and as I read on that page, its my body's way of telling me to stop.

But will that painful feeling stop after some time? I am interested to know why so many people smoke perfectly fine, but when I do, it just hurts.

(again this was only my second time)

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
It might stop with continous use as it does with most people but it also depends on your body .

But if you are allergic to tobacco,it will be difficult. That in itself is a controversial subject.

Tobacco allergy causes wheezing and coughing making it difficult to breathe.

Hope that was useful.
