The simple answer is "up to 30 days".
However, the detection rate depends on individual metabolism, potency of the marijuana used, and frequency of use also.
According to US Dept. Of Justice the following is considered the Rule of Thumb:
- After a single, one time use, it should clear from the system in around 3 days
- With casual, moderate use (2-4 times per week) it could take 5 days after the last use to clear the urine.
- For a heavy smoker (daily or almost daily) it could take 10 days after the last exposure.
- For a chronic heavy smoker, it takes 21-30 days from the last use.
While there is no magical cure to rid yourself of the chemical that is produced after smoking marijuana, it is thought that drinking large amounts of water will flush it from your body more quickly than if you were drinking less, just like with almost any other chemical in our body that is secreted through urine.
