For the last few months I have had a reoccurring cut on the outside of my labia and it has caused a lot of itching and discomfort. I had tests done and they came back negative for STDs but positive for a certain bacteria that was not named because my gyno thought it would just go away. It has been another month and it is still persistent and irritating, and now I have something like a soft wart that has grown in size. I''m very worried as to what this is, why it won''t go away, what the health risks are, and how I can finally get rid of it and be comfortable again!

What do you think of the growth? At first I thought it was a pimple that had not come to a head, and now it has gotten larger. Does this kind of thing go away with treatment, or do you think I'd have to end up getting it removed?

Hello smiley,

The growth could be in association to the infection or could be a cyst. We cannot tell for sure by now. As I mentioned, it is important to do the culture test to identify the causative factor (either bacterial or fungal) to get the proper treatment. If the growth is in association to infection it is supposed to resolve when treatment is taken. Supposing the growth persist after the treatment then it needs to be re-evaluated to determine if it needs to be removed surgically.
