My Mother's eyes glazed over, cloudy...for a couple of days..could this be a result of thyroid nodules? If not..what would be a likely cause?

My Mother has already had cataract surgery. After I noticed her glazed eyes (milky-like) on a couple of days she eventually had a psychotic break...maybe a week to ten days later. While she was in the hospital for this schizophrenic break the doctors found the nodules....which we have not yet followed up on. I was unsure whether this eye-thing may be due to the nodules or maybe a medicinal overdose or underdose...she also has the beginnings of memory loss, which would explain her meds being messed up at the time of her psychotic break. Is there any more info u can give me?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy),

I just spoke with a pharmacist, and she feels it is unlikely that this milky-like appearance is due to a medication. Some psychiatric drugs CAN cause some blurred vision or a glazed appearance, though.

I would suggest asking the hospital for a list of her medications and discuss them with the pharmacist. As far as the memory loss, many drugs (especially psychiatric drugs) can cause memory impairment.

I wish I could help you more, but that's all I can think of. Maybe another expert can provide some more insight.

p.s. Try not to wait on getting an ophthalmologist to evaluate her eyes, and an endocrinologist to evaluate these nodules...it's possible this could be the primary cause.
