I have muscle pain (as if I'd been exercising-I haven't been, nor have I been doing anything out of the ordinary). Pain is equal bilaterally in the posterior side of the bicep area and the posterior side of the thigh area. Pain is equal in all sites. Worse in the morning, gets better as day goes on. NSAID's seem to help some. Has lasted for about 3 weeks. Came on over a couple of days, and then has stayed the same. Worse at night and in the morning before rising. Sometimes difficult to get out of bed and walk, but, again, better as day goes on, almost disapearing some days.   Not taking any medications., No adverse health issues. 48 years of age. Male. Back surgery 15 years ago without problems except for very slight weakness in calf muscle on left leg.

You should goto your physician to rule out arthritis.,however it sounds like it could be sciatica .Go to he website below.

I seriously doubt that it's arthritis or sciatica. There is no joint involvement at all, and I had sciatica prior to my lumbar laminectomy 15 years ago, so I know what that feels like.

It is stricly confined to the muscles of the upper leg/thigh and upper arm/bicep area.

Myofascial pain and dysfunction is a possible cause to what you describe.

Gluteus minimus muscle can radiate pain all the way to the calf and foot. The pain may effect the strength in the radiating area. Muscle pain in the morning is not common unless inflamed or sore. The pain reducing after a while might be due to a better circulation to the affected muscle.
Inactivity is a possible cause to myofascial pain dysfunction as well as running(long term stress).
