Sports medicine and general orthopedics can be practiced by anyone who feels there training and knowlege base is sufficient. Many primary care doctors (family med, internist, pediatrician) also do a fair amount of orthopedics in their regular office hours. Many primary care doctors manage fractures and make splints in their offices.
