I have been diagnosed with Renal Cell Carsoma in my Left Kidney.My surgen has recomended it be taken out. Should a Oncolegest be called in before the surgery is done.

it would depend on how you were diagnosed. If you had a biopsy that shows renal cell with no staging yet, then I would have the oncologist involved now. If you simply had a biopsy and the surgery is also confirmatory then you could wait for the final tissue diagnosis. If this is unequivocably renal cell ca then the oncologist should be involved sooner rather than later.

Reply to S. Sarisky DO.'s Post: THERE WAS NO BIOSPY DONE. THE CAT SCAN IS WHAT THEY ARE GOING ON. THEY ARE TELLING ME NO ONCOLGEST IS NEEDED AT THIS TIME.

Should i except the doctors advice to go ahead and have the Kidney removed because the Cat Scan shows there is cancer there?

you need tissue diagnosis
I suppose I would ask what all the options are - could frozen section be evaluated during the operation to get diagnosis of cancer before removing entire kidney. Any other options for biopsy? Such as needle biopsy through the skin.
