On March 28 I was told by my urologist after he had read my cat scan, that I had a mass(cancer) on my right kidney and it had to come out. First he had to laser a large stone blocking my left ureter. Had a stent inserted, stone lasered, stent removed, another cat scan and on April 28, he tells me that surgery isn't needed, come back in 6 months for another cat scan and exam. my question is, do I need to get a second opinion?

What explanation to the doctor have for the surgery not being needed after the kidney stone was removed. If I was because the mass no longer showed up (or showed up as large) after the scan -- what was the doctor's explanation for that?

Was any kind of biopsy done on the mass?
