hi, I am a 27 year old male, with on going back, right leg and foot problems. About 6 years ago i was told i had a bulging disc of the L4-L5. After 4 years of physical therapy, chiropractor visits and cortizone shots i had surgery for what was now a herniated disc. The pain before the surgery was very intense, espically in my right leg. After the surgery i was in even more pain but the Dr told me to give it 6 weeks and amazingly 6 weeks later i was feeling a lot better. At the same time my right foot had swelled up and i was told i had a chipped Talus of the foot/ankle but it was an old injury that had already scarred over and nothing could be done. The swelling of the foot was then diagnosed as Gout. After another 6 weeks of resting i was released back to work. A year later, everything going good so far, I had pain in my lower back and right leg again. I go to another surgean and was told that my L5-S1 now has herniated so i go through all the conservative treatments again only to have no success and proceed to have another surgery. This time everything went fine after the surgery, no foot problems, and i was released for work 6 weeks later. Between the time frame of 2 - 3 months later, I was beginning to feel stiffness and dull pain in my lower back only to have it get worst and worst as time went on. The pain in the leg was minimal at most, only hurt when i was sitting in a car for a long period of time. After my back pain got to the point where i could not stand straight up I went back to my 2nd surgean and had an MRI which showed nothing but "wear n tear," and deal with it. He did order a CAT scan and lab work but he thinks I just have a bad back. The pain in my back is beginning to be managable but now my right foot is going through phases of numbness and cramping. At night however, I have extreme pain in the top of my foot and on the right side of my calf. Also I am unable to move my right foot in any direction. Its not that it hurts to move it, I am just unable to do so. I guess my question is, Do you have any advice? Should i seek a 2nd opinion? Do you think this chip Talus could somehow have something to do with all of this? Or do you think I just have a bad back and should deal with it? Sorry if I am unable to pay for an answer, I have 3 kids and 1 on the way and money is extrememly tight with all the work i keep missing.
