My daughter had arterious patent ductus surgery when she was 8 months old. After leaving the hospital 11 days later she was on heart meds and seen a cardiologist for 1 year. After that the only thing we had to do was make sure she was given antibiotics before seeing the dentist. In Feburary of this year she was 24 years old and died according to the autopsy report she pnumonia which was caused by Congestive Heart failure due to her congenital heart disease(patent ductus arterious). Can anybody explain this to me?

I can give the full physiologocal process causing heart failure, i think you simply want the basics and in your obvious grief, I want you to know thw pain I feel for you.

The truth is: when heart is dmaged and works overtime day after mont after year, it become less sfficient and begins to fail, Youdughter was so young-and i can just imagine the pain you must feel. The death was probably assessed correctly, and her heart simply couln't bear th worklooad.

Does that help?

Reply to Christy Hammond's Post: Because they say she died from congenital heart disease doesnt that mean it was present? I thought it was fixed and she wasnt going to have it affect her anymore? Do the drs know she would die young? Also it says on the autopsy that her blood was going the oposite direction then it should of been going. Couldnt that of been noticed before?
