A family was recently rushed to the hopital and diagnosed as having a Peptic Ulcer. He had not been able to have bowel movements for a week nor could he retain food after attempting to eat. He was unable to stand or walk and was doubled over with intense pain before going to the hospital. His stomach was twice the normal size and very hard. Over the last two years he has cmplained of stomach pains but no doctor could find the cause. He has been in the hospital for a week now. His stomach was pumped and the family has been told they are going to decide whether he will have surgery depending on his ability to keep food down when he is given some food on
tomorrow. He is able to urinate but cannot have a bowel movement. However he has not had solid food this week. What should the family expect? What would cause such a radical change in his symptons?
