Spinal Stenosis
Sent to Health Experts June 19 08:40 PM

I have been treated for the past 6 to 8 months for back problems. I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and told that theres not much that can be done for it. I have had 4 epidural injections. One in October of 2005, one in March and two in April of 2006. The last three were done at 6 week intervals. I do not have severe back pain, but more in my legs and now my feet. My left leg and foot is much worse that the right. I have now developed severe swelling in my feet. More left than right. The swelling is so great that I only have one pair of shoes that I can wear all day. My shoes blister the top of my feet . I just want to ask if this is a normal sympton of spinal stenosis or if It could be something that I could do something about myself.

May I ask you to tell me more about your diagnosis? Have you had this problem long term? Have you seen a board certified neurologist? Do you have any other conditions, such as diabetes, which may add to your symptoms? And lastly, what kind of relief, if any, did you get from the epidurals?

I will try to help but need to know a bit more.

Reply to B. Shapiro's Post: I have had back problems since the mid 80s. I have had 2 herniated disc in my lower back and one in my neck. I had a surgery in 1986 that I don't know the name. They did an injection of something derived from Papaya that supposedly disolved the disc. I didn't have any more problems until 2002 and 2003. In 2003, I had three epidurals and they helped a lot until late last year. The most recent ones made me feel better for 2 to three weeks. No I have not seen a Neurosurgeon. I have been seeing an Orthapedic.
I am not a diabetic. I am overweight and a smoker. I have been xrayed, but no mri
