Employees bad Knee
Sent to Health Experts June 21 01:47 AM

My employee has been off of work since October 2005 due to a tear in the knee which he had surgery on in November, could this tear occured when the employer hurt his knee in July 2005, the doctor reported then that it was "Synovitis of the left knee" due to the employee patting down dirt with his leg after planting a tree. Could the tear have happened in July but not be a problem until October (his knee began hurting when the employee was getting out of the car after returning home from work). I just want to know if these 2 incidents could be related and the percentage of change that they are

Thank you to anyone for answering this question

Knee effusions may be the result of trauma, overuse, inflammatory disease or a combination of all three. A knee with chronic inflammation or history of injury is more suseptible to further injury from trauma. Synovitis is a process of inflammation and thickening of the membrane, and may present weeks or months after initial injury. Examination of fluid aspirated from the joint, along with physical exam and history, may provide clues about the source of injury. However, since the clinical presentation of acute injury is very similar to that of chronic disorders, and because the underlying cause of synovitis may be both acute and chronic, there is little chance of ruling out the acute injury as a contributing factor for your employee's knee pain.
