You may have carpal tunnel syndrome.
If you have carpal tunnel syndrome a physician performs Tinel's test by tapping on the front of your wrist which will cause tingling or pain in your hand if you have carpal tunnel syndrome. Another test isPhalen's test where your wrist is bent forward and then held in that position for a few minutes which will cause tingling in your fingers if you have carpal tunnel syndrome. Also an electrical nerve conduction test is useful. If you have carpal tunnel syndrome x-rays and blood tests will be normal.
NSAIDs reduce swelling of the joints and decrease stiffness; however, they won't prevent further joint damage.
An injection of corticosteroids can provide relief. However, corticosteroids can weaken cartilage and remove the minerals from the bone so they are used rarely.
Ice helps lessen the swelling. When the swelling and pain is reduced then heat can be applied to relax the muscles in your hand and wrist and further reduce pain and soreness.
Wear a golf glove on your left hand while you play golf. http://www.intheholegolf.com/page/ITHG/PROD/DSG?gtse=goog?gtkw=rick%20smith%20swing%20glove
If supportive treatment isn't relieving your pain then carpal tunnel release surgery may be appropriate to relieve the pressure on the median nerve in your wrist.
