Question

Fallen Bladder

Sent to Health Experts July 08, 2006 3:01 p.m.

My bladder has fallen and I was told by my family doctor it is a medium cystocele. he made appt. for me to see a urologist but not for a few months..she is on vacation..It is very very painful.. is protruding just past the vagina, and I have to stand up and bend over to urinate [if I don't no urine comes out]. ..I have to go to the bathroom every half hour and when I stand up after sitting for awhile I have to go right away...now wearing panties is uncomfortable also.
About 3 weeks ago I was in such pain[ I had been doing housework that day and regular vacuuming etc etc]that my husband made me go to the emergency. They admitted me because of pain and I stayed for 2 WEEK while .they did a series of tests to determine cause of pain. I was told that the fallen bladder could not cause so much pain but I told them it is from my bladder..it is a pressure and is worse when the bladder is full... but the doctor on call insisted that it should not be so painful and it must be something else so he called in a urologist...they could both see that the bladder had fallen..said it was quite visible as well as some of the bowel but still insisted the pain must be from something else. All the tests they did, including a colonoscopy, cystoscopy, abdominal scans and xrays etc etc came back negative. They found nothing except my bladder was out of place.... I also have fibromyalgia [have had this for many years]......and told the hospital staff this. I was told by the urologist at the hospital and the gynocologist, that the fallen bladder[cystocele] was only at the medium stage and did not need immediate attention. They said it was not that important so I was discharged from hospital and told to find my own gynocologist [the one in the hospital did not operate- he simply examined me, made his referral and released me] .   I am in constant pain as well as feel pressure all the time. The bladder is larger and protruding more than before and also and looks rounder and harder. I am very tired and not sleeping much as I have to get up several times in the night...
This all started about a year ago and has been getting worse the past 3 months until I found myself in the emergency....it was on a weekend and no doctor was available. Now I realize I should never have gone to hospital. We just moved here and I do not have a gynocologist.Just a family doctor.
Help...my daughter is getting married beginning of August and I had hoped this would all be over by now.....I have an appt. with a gynocologyst end of July....but I really want another opinion before I go.

I think Fibromyalgia is increasing your symptoms from Cystocele. After repair surgery it will probably go away.

I forgot to mention that I had a hysterectomy in 1997 [just uterus removed and still have ovaries. Also, do you think from what I told you that I need surgery and will get actually get it???? I agree that fibromyalgia is making the pain more intense for me.
