Reply to Kerry's Post: Primary Hand Surgeon said, it was distal fracture
of dominant left hand, placed cast 6 weeks, follow
up X-ray while in cast. Cast removed said, the bone had fused. Restricted use greater than 10 lb.
for 1 week. I began to have Ulna joint pain from motion, like twisting, pushing on palm, numbness of the ring and small fingers. I seldom awaken with severe numbness loss of sensation from the hand up elbow. As he bumped use of the hand to no greater 25 lb. My hand began to hurt something terrible trying work and do my job. Doctor placed my hand in spica thumb splint for 2 weeks no use of the hand. After two months of this up and down restriction he ordered 4 weeks of therapy to help strength loss of grip. During the first two weeks of therapy I quit my job and moved to Texas continued remaining two weeks of therapy in Texas.
After completion he refused to give MMI because
I moved and the therapist in Texas reccommended
a Function Capacity. So he said find another Doctor in Texas to treat your hand. Basically, refused to see me. I informed him that I had to relocate in Texas and return for second trip of moving in two weeks to get MMI. When I called from Texas to get the appointment follow-up and MMI he refused to take the call. Assistant told me I would have to wait another four months before he would MMI this injury. So the insurer
hired another doctor to give MMI and gave the insurer (0)disability for my injury. So Insurer
stop all medical and closed my claim.
I finally, got second opinion 14 months after the injury occurred. My doctor, Hand surgeon told me
I had a Dorsal fracture not Distal of Triquetrum 10% permanate impairment. Dsyfunction left dominant hand. My question is would surgery and hebert screw and wires have prevented this life changing event. My doctor, said if you thought it hurt this much, wait until you have surgery it can only get worse. Two ligaments at the fracture
area I wouldn't touch it. To this day I can't lift a 8 lb tea pitcher. I've hand nothing but pain and discomfort on daily basis. I cannot support any pressure on the palm of hand. Like standing up from a seated postion. Or use my hand to support my weight on a table top. Slight movements of the wrist toward ulna joint increase pain. Will this permanant feeling of badly sprained wrist ever get better? Will these seldom days of awakening with Numbness of the hand stop? What can be done? I haven't been able to work for two year because of this problem. I can't even pick up a pencil and write for ten minutes without setting off more discomfort.
I have pin point pain on the Ulna head. Any pressure here and I'm screaming! Feels like I have a permanant bone bruise on the Ulna head.
Would do you people reccommend I do?
Cary
