i recently had open heart surgery myectomy valve repair i have been home almost a week i asked my dr about pain management the mayo clinic gave me some tylenol oxy codone 2 every 6hrs i im almost outand he told me to take tylenol i do not have a drug problem i only want to not be in as much pain he said he would not perscribe me anything snd to deal with it he is upset that i went to the mayo clinic instead of going to him is this normal or do i just deal with it i had pain meds during my ankle surgery for a month i dont understand

Hello

If it has been less than a week since your surgery you could very well still need the stronger medication. Please give your surgeon a call at the Mayo and ask them to call your regular doctor to talk to him. Or, the mayo surgeon may be able to get your prescrption refilled. If neither one of these things works, I suggest going to the ER to get more.
