What is the anal pain I am experiencing?
Sent to Health Experts April 20 01:22 AM

I am a 19 year old gay male. I experience a slight
burning pain during anal sex. Afterwards I find a little
blood. Bowel movements dont produce blood that I
notice, but it does burn and cause some discomfort.
Sometimes i think i find mucus or something on my
anus..I am not sure if thats what it is. Anyway, do u
know what this could be? I was tested for ghonorrea
and chlamydia and it came back negative. What else
could it be? I dont really notice any changes in the
appearance or feel of my anus

Hi Drew..From the symptoms that you describe, it sounds like you may have a small internal tear in you anal / rectal area. If the blood that you notice is bright red then that is another indicator that is the problem. If not a tear, then it maybe a small internal polyp or hemorrhoid that becomes irritated and bleeds. I think that if you abstain from anal sex for 4-5 days it will be ok. Use good hygiene after your BM's and when you do resume sexual activity, use a good water soluable lubricant. Try and avoid overly strenuous sexual activity for a while, and should the bleeding worsen or change in color, then you need to consult an MD. Take care.

I thought maybe that could be it but I dont have anal
sex alot. My partner lives pretty far away and we dont
see eachother but maybe once every month and a
half and while I am away it still burns during BM and
sometimes itches.

Hello Drew. The best tratment for now is basically to "give it a rest". The fact that you dont have anal sex very often will contribute to the problem because that part of your anatomy is not acustomed to that activity. In other words, if you were practicing that method of sex more frequently then you body would become less suceptible to injury. It will heal by itself if you just practice good hygiene. Take care.
