I'm a grad student currently trying to make it through

Sent to Health Experts December 04 10:38 PM

I'm a grad student currently trying to make it through finals week. Around this time of year, early December, I find myself feeling like I'm coming down with a cold virus. Usually starts with an uncontrollable urge to sneeze. When I do sneeze it almost violent. However, if I can go lay down and rest for an hour or so, the urge to sneeze stops, my head clears and I feel better. As long as I'm laying down I feel fine, but once I get up and start moving around my head gets stuffy and I begin to sneeze again. It certainly doesn't feel like the usual cold. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with a change in barometric pressure. I get this during other times in the year... usually the uncontrollable sneezing lasts for about a day. As long as I get a chance to rest it goes away. Any idea how I can treat this? Cold medicines won't even touch the stuffy head and itchy nose. I usually take DayQuil for colds, but to no avail with this thing. Claritin also doesn't seem to work for this and I usually combine this with Sudafed, since the decongestant in Claritin-D feels too strong for me. If this sounds like something related to barometric pressure change, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening? Thanks so much for your advice!
