I just started my period about 24 hours ago. I use tampons. I had a necklace around my neck that I ware often. I now have a rash where the necklace was. I have never had a sunburn, so I don't know what to compare the rash to. But I know a sudden rash is a TSS symptom. I don't have any of the other sympton. Should I wait till the morning, or go to the emergency care clinic?

"TSS symptoms appear quickly and are often severe. Not all cases are exactly alike, and you may not have all the symptoms. You may have aching muscles, bloodshot eyes, or a sore throat, making it seem like the flu. The sunburn-like rash may not develop until you're very ill; it may go unnoticed if it's only on a small area. Later, the skin on your palms and soles may flake or peel. A first episode may be so mild that you don't connect the symptoms with TSS, but the next time, the symptoms may be severe. Once you've had TSS, you're more likely to get it than someone who never has had it."

Your symptoms sound more like a contact dermatitis rather than a TSS, I would probably not rush to the ER, unless you have other some of the other symptoms mentioned above as well,

Reply to Gaurav Gupta's Post: Last night after I sent the message I had a loose stool once, however, I had 2.5 glasses of cheep wine before bed and that sometimes upsets my stomach. I also only ate once yesterday and drank very little to no water, so that may contribute to the ill stomach after the wine. I am at the very beggining of my period, not the end. I am just more concerned now because of the ill feeling stomach. I don't have a fever and the ill stomach is not at all servere, it just scares me more because of the rash too. Does the rash usually just effect the hands, mine is on my neck?

Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is an extremely rare condition. An important symptom of TSS is a sunburnlike rash that develops within 2 days of the beginning of a fever 102 °F(38.9 °C) or higher. What you are describing does not sound like TSS rash... I understand that you are scared.. but it is a generalized rash more likely on the extremities, so not like what you have,
you may review with your physician in case you start feeling worse though,
