I had unprotected sex about 6 days after my cycle, about two weeks ago from today. i am on ortho tri-cyclen, which i take regularly and my cycles are like clockwork. within the past week, i have had gas pains, one day of diarreah followed by a day and a half of constipation. i have had dull aches on both sides of my lower abdomen, which have been present for the past 5 days and have stopped today. i have also been nauseous. i should be getting my period next week. am i just ovulating or could i be pregnant?

Hi,
If you have regular 28 day cycles, then your ovulation should occur 15 days before the next expected day of period. This comes out to be 13 days after your first day of period of previous cycle. It is unlikely that at the 6th day after period, you should ovulate. It might be due to ovulation that you are having symptoms of pain and bowel upset or it might even be a mild stomach bug. In any case if you want to confirm about your pregnancy, then you can use a home pregnancy detection kit, but a pregnancy is ulikely if you have regular 28 day cycles.

Very rarely it is possible, if the cycles are irregular.
