Question

STD's

Sent to Health Experts March 04, 2006 11:56 a.m.

I had sex with somebody and I want to make sure I'm clean, is there a test that checks for all STD's or would I have to wait for syptoms? How long would it take to show signs, a couple days or months? I'm not sure if I have joke itch or I'm showing signs of something else, but it seems like joke itch that Iv had in the past.

REPLIED Check Mark

There is a test for each STD. However, your doctor can test for them quickly in the office, or you can go to any Planned Parenthood for confidential treatment. Planned parenthood will only charge you based on your ability to pay.

Since you are also having symptoms of jock itch, you can treat that with an antifungal cream to see if that helps clear it up. If you don't see improvement in a week, you will want to have that checked by a doctor as well.

Hope that helps,

Kerry

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Some STD's could show up this soon. Things like HIV or Hepatitis might take longer.

If you are at all in doubt I highly suggest seeing a doctor sooner rather than later. They can at least rule out things such as gonorrhea (might cause painful urinationa and discharge), or syphillis (might cause sores on the genitals).

Yes, this does give me some pin money! :)

Take care,

Kerry
