I have another question regarding Effexor. I am so tired all the time. I may be sleeping too much. Should I give in and sleep? I am napping at lunch time and over the weekend we went away and I slept most of the weekend. Should I be trying to stay awake more?

Optional Information:
Age: 44

Already Tried:
have been on effexor for almost 6 weeks was always tired before but am more so now. I just keep sleeping.

There are a lot of complaints about too much sleeping with the effexor, much of it seems to be tied to the dosage. 75 mg or more seems to cause more sleepiness as opposed to 25mg. I dont know if you feel comfortable splitting a pill in half and seeing how that works.

Here is a message board dealing with this very problem.

I mean...to say "force yourself to stay awake" seems cruel, its almost like starving yourself.....but maybe it is worth a try.

If it were me, I would either reduce my dosage and see how that helped, or speak to my doctor to see what he thought about reducing the dosage, and what it's effects, negative or positive would be.

I would not recommend you trying to drive, or do anything else where you could harm yourself or anyone else while trying to stay awake.

Let me know what you decide and how it works out.

Relist: I still need help.
I am taking 75 mg of effexor and have askeed about being sleepy constantly. But today I have an earache, a sharp pain in my head once in awhile and the right side of my face is sore to touch, sometimes tingly. Could this also be related to the drug or a seperate issue, I have had it before and it goes away. Thought maybe a tooth infection or sinus or something. But knowing that Iam on effexor has me concerned. it also seems to have made my eye water.

The other night I woke up with a pain in my hip
( which has been bothering me off and on some) and then it felt like it moved...pain was gone but then I had a great pain in m y calf of that leg..liKe it moved down there...whatwould case this?
When I say it moved I could feel something move from my hip down toward my leg.

It sounds like a muscle in your hip that would travel down your leg and that is very painful..I get them all the time they are usually caused by a low potassium level or not drinking enough water..You can increase your potassium by bananas or orange juice..apricots are also a good source..It also good to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day it will cleanse your system and help lose weight..Hope this answered your question..If you have anymore please ask otherwise click the accept button...Brenda

Reply to BRENDA BACKUS's Post: I am not overweight and just wanted to know if there could be a blod clot or why this pain or thing would move, I actually could feel it moving. Is there a reason for that?
