Dr. Gupta, Thank you for your time and imput. This started about 3months ago with weak forearms, pinky and ring fingers, fine motor skills were a lttle diffcult.
Family doc sent me for mri of neck and shoulders. Mri report shows several bulging disks and spondoylis at c6-c7.I was prescribed Naproxen 500 mg 2 x daily.
From there I say ortho dr.I had told them that I had started to notice r hand trembling, teeth chattering and sometimes my head would bobble. Also the tops of my thighs feel funny and 2 toes on my left foot feel that they are going upright bu they arent. They said to Ice down and cont. w/Naproxen, go to phsical therapy, and to come back in 3 months.
3 weeks later I called for apt as my teeth chattering seemed to worsen with P.T. Maybe the decompression? At this apt the ortho said he didnt know that I had the shaking and chattering and said to go see a neuro.
I had my first Neuro apt. again said classic nerve irritation from the neck injury.By now I also have twitching under my left eye, which comes and goes.(My neck injury was 10 yrs ago, and only slightly bothersome as I sit at computor, or lift alot, I dont have a normal curvature.)
Said to come back in 6 months. I waited 2 weeks and scheduled another apt. as i felt worse. Neuro. Dr. said that I had benign esstential tremors and to start on mysoline 25 mg at night. Nasty stuff!! havent had a call back from that Dr. yet. So 2nd night I only took 12.5 mg, which leeds us to today, I only feel that I had 1 big glass of wine, and the teeth chattering is worse along with headache and the back of my neck feels feverish.
Also If I drive for over 1/2 hr. my arms feel numb, weak, and my pinky and ring fingers seem to curl in.
I havent had any tests yet. Neuro Dr.wants to test thyroid as well. I did have a ferrel cat bite before all of this started, the cat was quarantined for rabies, could there be something else here?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

It does not seem to be a case of spinal nerve compression, because the symptoms seem to be invovling the lower limbs / areas of the head not innervated by a particular nerve...

Here are some of the possibilities that I can think of:

  • Calcium abnormalitites
  • Opiod withdrawal (in case of drug addiction)
  • Central cause of tremors including essential benign tremors and other causes (MRI may be useful)

Please remember to accept the reply if you find it useful. A BONUS and a positive rating would be duly appreciated,
regards
Dr. Gupta
