This could be a swollen gland or lumph node which can be a sign of infection but in alot of cases it resolves on it's own. Lymph nodes sort of act like filters that collect and destroy bacteria and viruses. When the body is fighting infection they can multiply and cause swelling. There are clusters of lymph nodes in the groin area as well as other areas in the body. It would be advised to monitor the bump and see if it does not resolve itself within the bext couple of days and if it does not it can be a sign of continued infection that needs a round of antibiotics but in most cases this will resolve itself.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: In addition, this may be completely unrelated but I also have a small rash lower in my bikini area. I think it was caused by a dull razer that I used. Do you think I should be concerned? Could these symptoms be related and linked to one another?

No I don't think these would be related unless this is due to an ingrown hair then it could account for the swelling. But this sounds as though these are two seperate issues. A dull razor will cause a rash such as this but this sounds as though you have a swollen lymph node and a razor rash as well but they do not seem related to one another. I would not be concerned yet as with the lymph nodes they help to grab the infection in a sense and fight it so unless this continues to be an issue then I would have it evaluated but with most swollen lymph nodes they do resolve theirselves.
