It is not unusual to be quite tired during pregnancy.

If she is following all the recommended precautions of handling the specimens during the course of her work, there should be no risk. Carelessness, is of course a need for worry. She has probably been vaccinated in the past against Hepatitis. If she is overtly concerned, she could ask the OB to perform some lab work.

I would have her discuss her symptoms with her OB.

It may well be that she is falling asleep early in the evening and then able to go back to sleep. She should probably try to go to bed later on in the evening.

I would purchase a BP monitor if you do not already have one so she can monitor her BP at home and report any changes she notices to her OB.

Reply to Deborah's Post: you are telling me what she is saying to me but the fact of the matter is she is constantly tired and more importantly is very self conscious about her weight so much so that it depresses her. as far her working conditions there has only been 1 change to that and that is she is not allowed to enter the tb room but as far as i can tell thats all thats changed. both pregnancies she had whats called the blues which was actually very serious for our first child. it seems to me that i am the only person concerned here and when i suggest she take some sick leave the only reason she doesnt is because she is scared of getting a warning.

Reply to Deborah's Post: YOU MENTIONED ANEMIA YES SHE DOES GET ANEMIC WITH PREGNANCY AND SHE IS GETTING IRON SUPPLEMENTS FOR THAT. ITS JUST THAT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TOLD THAT THE FIRST 12 WEEKS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS AND THATS WHAT CONCERNS ME. I AM A WORRIER BUT I ALWAYS BELIEVED THAT ITS BETTER TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION RATHER THAN JUST WING IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHICH IS THE ATTITUDE THAT I AM GETTING. YOU SEE SHE GOT PREGNANT WITH A COIL IN SO IT WASNT PLANNED BUT ARE HAPPY NONETHELESS AND THE COIL WAS EASILY REMOVED. I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO OR SAY TO HER BECAUSE SHE JUST GETS VERY ANGRY AT ME WHEN I MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

This isa tough situation. It would be best if she were evaluated for depression and/or bi-polar disorder; however, she may not be agreeable to be seen for treatmrent.

Ypu could call the OB and express your concerns so that the OB can just nonchalantly ask her if she is depression or has mood swings. The OB will not mentin the conversation he or she had with you.

I am with you 100%, I also beleive it better to be safe than sorry.
