This sounds like it could be associated with the gallbladder, so that is something they will be checking for. It could also be associated with a peptic ulcer as well so it is good that they are going for this procedure in the morning. It does sound related to one of the above possibilities and it may be that they will choose to remove the gallbladder.

Dear Scott,

I would like to keep in mind these possiblities,

  • a viral stomach flu...
  • acid peptic disease (gastritis) including a peptic ulcer (stomach ulcer being more likely given your symptoms).
  • A gastroesophageal reflux may also lead to similar symptoms

Given these symptoms an ultrasound of the abdomen and an endoscopy is definitely indicated if these symptoms are persistent....

Dear Scott,

An immediate vomiting could be as a result of a stomach ulcer.. it could also be as a result of partial obstruction of the stomach, another possibility is a gastroesophageal reflux that can lead to sudden vomits after eating food.

An episode of food posioning per se cannot lead to this complication, though it is possible that the previous episode may not have been just a simple food poisoning, but the start of one of these illnesses....
