The companies that make the statins say that rare cases of muscle and
liver problems have been reported in association with their use.
Symptoms for these muscle problems include muscle pain, tenderness,
weakness.
For liver problems watch for yellowing of the skin (jaundice). or eyes,
abdominal pain or discomfort, dark (tea-colored) urine or pale stools,
or fatigue.
I would suggest that you speak with your doctor immediately about your
symptoms and I would not take the statin again until this has been
ruled out as a cause for your symptoms. Tell the doctor on Monday
that you have stopped taking the drug even if you can't get an
appointment until later in the week!
There will probably be other tests he will want to do to rule out any
primary problems that could cause your symptoms (other than the statin).
