I spent 15 days in the hospital (critical care unit) where I received the million dollar work-up. I am the healthiest sick person on the planet. Symptoms: slept for 6 days, headache, dizziness, confusion, short term memory loss, tingling hands and feet, loss of appetite, loss of taste and smell. I also black out when I stand up for 3 minutes or so. My doctor believes it was ciguetera or marine toxins as I ate Mahi Mahi back on April 27th when this whole thing started. Unfortunately, I'm better, but not 100%. Any more ideas? I am so frustrated.

Hello

First of all I'm really glad you are better. The rest will most likely come back in time. Sometimes it takes up to a couple months to be back to baseline, and feel good again. You have been through a lot! It takes time for our bodies to regenerate lost cells and heal.

Take it easy, make sure you are drinking plenty of water, get your rest when needed, and moderate exercise. Also of course, eat a good healthy diet.

Hope you are feeling better real soon.

Reply to Kerry's Post: This really didn't address the issue. I understand that it takes a while to recover fully but the issue hsn't resolved itself. I'm still getting severe headaches and am dizzy. I can't engage too well in conversations and my reading comprehension has suffered. I am not sure how I'm supposed to live like this.

The brain is the organ of our body that takes the longest to heal. Some of it may not come back. Your best bet would be to be tested by a neurologist to find out what exactly is causing your symptoms and what the prognosis for the cause is.

If your brain was injured as the result of this infection, it may take months to fully recover. However, it is a good idea to be sure that is the case here, so that you aren't missing something else that can be further treated.

It is really hard to say over the internet I'm afraid.

I hope you can get to the bottom of it soon.
