Bacterial infection would present with red, inflammed hot area which can become very painful.

If you think it is bacterial infection then you must not use cortisone as tis will reduce the body's ability to tackle the infection.

Can you describe the area in more detail. When did this become a problem?

Do you have any other problems eg diabetes or circulation problems?
