Had acid indigestion and heartburn that started almost 3 months ago. The burning went away after a few weeks and I then noticed having pain in the upper right side of my chest. The pain worsens at night and gets really bad for about a half hour to an hour. During that time I have a hard time taking a full breath. I have also noticed a nagging pain in the inside of my right shoulder blade. It feels like a knotted up muscle.

What is going on? I want to go to the doctor, but am unsure if I should see a specialist.

The symptoms you list above match perfectly to having a gall bladder attack. You can confirm this via an ultra sound, although it's not always 100% effective. Do see a Gastroenterologist.

Here is a site you can read more on the gall bladder. Gallstones

In the meantime stay away from fried, greasy foods, foods high in saturated fat, such as red meat and food high in refined sugars, such as pastries. Also avoid egg yolks, whole milk, butter, cheese, as well as a few vegetable fats like coconut oil, palm oil, and hydrogenated vegetable shortenings.

Good foods for you. Fill up on fiber, take come vitamin C, High-fiber cereal, Cantaloupe, Whole-wheat bread, Oranges, Sweet red peppers, Coffee, Barley

The main thing is to not aggravate the stone.

Reply to Lindie's Post: I agree, it sounds like it could be gallbladder attack. The only thing is that my pain is really only in my chest, not my abdomen. Does that change anything?

No and the reason I say this, I too went through this awhile. Actually just 3 years ago. Due to the pain in the left chest part, they didn't think it was gall bladder, ultra sound didn't pick up any stones.. but in the end after all was said in done, it was the gall bladder and stones had come out and got stuck in the bile duct and caused me to be really sick. So yes, this is gall bladder.

Hope this helps, if you need anything else, please ask. If not do click the accept and leave feedback..

Best of luck Hun.
