I had flu like symptoms for 13 days then my symptoms became worse. I went to the Dr. and he said that I had moved from viral to bacterial bronchial infection and bacterial sinus infection. He put me on Augmentin 875MG (10 days). After the 10 day course I still had my cough but within 2 days of finishing antibiotics I started a U.T.I with Kidney pain I went to the Dr. to have this looked at and was then given (Bactrim DS)sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 (3days). The U.T.I and Kidney Pain did not go away, I still have my Cough AND NOW on top of it a Yeast Infection. HELP PLEASE. Total days of ill health after two coursed of antibiotics: 29.

Reply to Gaurav Gupta's Post: Yes a urine culture was done on my second visit to the Dr. but they told me I had to wait over the weekend to receive the results... I will make new appt. Monday and ask for results. I took an AZO tab the day before so I don't know if that will affect the results of the urine test. Thank you for acknowledging the frustration. Could all of these problems be linked to a bacterial infection in my body that is resistent and causing cough and kidney, UTI problems... IF TOO MUCH INFO sorry. thanks

YES,
That is a possibility that I am concerned about, AZO tab will not affect a urine culture result, only an antibiotic will do that..
The cough of course can remian after antibiotic course, sop I am not too much concerned about that, hwoever the persistent UTI is a cause of valid concern.
I suppose drinking of plenty of fluids (not very cold , in view of the cough) should help...
Treating the yeast infection with OTC drugs/ prescription meds (as prescribed by your doctor) and taking yoghurt / cranberry juice should be useful too,
here are some excellent tips for yeast infection treatment and self care

Reply to Gaurav Gupta's Post: Hello thank you for your response. To complete the transaction would you be able to help me understand what is done to isolate a possible bacterial infection...what tests should be done... is urine culture sufficiant? Or should a specific blood test be done... I just don't want to waste a trip to my Dr...or have Dr. not take me seriously. Thank you so much.

Thanks for getting back promptly,
The first step would be a urine culture.. A blood culture would possibly be needed too, especially if you are running fever/ have severe abdo pain.
I would also consider an ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) to be done to figure out if there is any underlying inflamation, nad of course a complete blood counts too,
Depending on yoru respiratory symptoms an X ray of the chest/ paranasal sinuses may also be needed...
