Hi. Hoping you could assist. The last time I had sex with someone that could have possibly had HSV2 was about 4 years ago. In the meantime I have had a gf of 3 years and have had unprotected sex with her this whole time. Although she was never tested she has NEVER had any signs of having HSV2. We broke up about 9 months ago and I have not been with anyone. 2 months ago, I went to beach, into the water to swim. When I got home to take a shower I noticed a red blister like looking thing on the head of my penis. Almost like a burn, with the skin loose over the area. This NEVER hurt, never uncorfortable, itch, never had pain when urinating or anything at all. Never noticed any foul smell but I also kept the area SO CLEAN and dry. I am uncircumsized, so for the first few days i kept the skin over the blister. Then I realized that it would probably be better to keep the skin pulled away from the head so that it could heal. After a LONG 4 to 5 weeks the blister finally began to heal. there were probably about 5 small blisters all together in weird shapes, but the total area was a little bit larger then the eraser on the back of a pencil. However, it's been about a total of 2 months now and there are still 2 TINY little skin patches left. With a magnifying glass it looks like dry skin. When I take a shower they seem to fill up with the water and they look slightly raised with a TINY little white dot in the center. I was diagnosed with HSV1 a very long time ago, but have NEVER had any problems in the genital area until that day at beach. I am planning on getting tested this week for HSV2 but was hoping that you could tell me whether you think this could be HSV2. I'm totally buggin out, its been 2 months now!! Thank you so much for your time.

It could possibly be the sign of HPV2 and there are so many different strains that it could be a number of strains that can cause symptoms such as yours. The only thing is with this strain usually you have the sign of genital warts and this does not sound like what you have so that is a good sign. It could also be caused by a grain of sand that got under your uncircumsized skin and has cause an irritation and that is highly possible. Continue to keep the area clean and dry and make sure and keep that appointment but I feel that it could be more related to a skin irriation then HPV2 and I can understand your worry but if this would have been sexually transmitted you would most likely have seen signs before 7 months after your last sexual intercourse.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: Do u mean to state HPV2 or do you mean HSV2??

Thanks for your response. Also, is it likely that this would take 2 nonths and still not fully healed??
Thx

I am sorry for the typo and I did mean HSV, although it is a possibility and you did not have a breakout before now. Valtrex is wonderful for helping with breakouts so that would be something you need to take daily if this turns out to be HSV. Yes it is possible that this could take two months to heal especially being uncircumsized but if you have been keeping the area clean and dry continue to do this as it seems to have helped. Most outbreaks of HSV do not last for this amount of time but it is possible especially if you are not on any preventative medication. HPV is a possibility as well but there are no tests for men to confirm this although they should make it a point to test you for all possible sexually transmitted diseases to be on the safe side.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: Thanks, and also, what about the lack of itchiness, soreness (pain) and no pain urinating. Is this typical of HSV2 infections? Could HSV1 have been spread to my genital area by my ex gf? If thats the case will the HSV1 be recurring in the genital area. Guess I'm confused on how the HSV1 can spread to the genitals and how HSV2 can spread to the oral area. Thanks so much again!

It can be typical with most with HSV but not with all so you may not be having a major breakout. Yes HSV-1 caould have been spread to your genital area by your ex-girlfriend. HSV-1 is spread by bodily fluid contact and HSV-2 is spread by oral contact with the infected person. And sad to say if you do have HSV-1 will be re-occuring in your genital area but can be controlled with the Valtrex. You are so very welcome for my help as I know this has got to have you upset and nervous. If it is diagnosed and you do have genital herpes the Valtrex is wonderful in controlling outbreaks but even when an outbreak is not present you will always have to use a condom to prevent spreading this to any partners in the future. I wish you the very best of luck that this is due to some infection from the sand or a skin infection that has been hard to heal due to being uncircumsized.
