upper back pain

I have had a couple of really weird symptoms and are wondering if they are connected. I have chronic pain in my upper back, right along my spinal cord that sometimes wakes me up from pain, and then in the morning when i wake up I have tingling in my heels and on the upper left side of mu back. What could this be?
