vaginal odor with new partner - which antibiotic?

I have a new boyfriend after a year of celibacy. As experienced before, years ago, our "chemistry" doesn't seem to match. I now have an odor, which I understand is quite common in this circumstance. I have never had an odor, except years ago under the same conditions, and my doctor gave me an antibiotic, which took care of the problem within two days (I did, however, take all the prescription, as prescribed). Can you tell me what this antibiotic is that is given in this situation?
It is NOT a yeast infection.

Hi,

You are probably suffering from Bacterial vaginosis. This is caused by an organism called gardnerella.

The symptoms are - whitish discharge, an odor described by many women as 'fishy' and which increases during the periods and just after sex.

If your symptoms match, you were prescribed metronidazole tablets (available as Flagyl) 500 mg twice daly for 5 days.
