Yes, but this is one of the lesser ways of contracting it. For more info:
  • Kissing, touching or caressing actively infected areas of a live virus area.

    Herpes:

If I may be of further assistance please reply.

I need to know that if a person has genital herpes, do they risk infecting someone else just by kissing them on the lips, even if they are not having symptoms of an outbreak? If they do run that risk, even to a lesser extent, this would mean that if a person with herpes enters a relationship with someone, he or she cannot allow a kiss goodbye unless the other person has been informed that they run the risk of getting herpes by simply a kiss on the lips. I understand the need to inform someone if there is a plan to have sex, but having to inform someone before the first kiss, on the first date, for example, takes it to a new chilling level! I need an answer and I guess I wonder what other people in this predicament do. Any experts at JustAnswer? A google search answer is not exactly what I had in mind. I have googled. I need to know exactly what to do.

I guess this is actually more of a ethical and moral question. Should I tell the person that I have this before I kiss them or ask for a kiss. People can and do live normal lives with this condition.

As the one receiving the kiss.........morally and ethically I can tell you that I would indeed want to know beforehand instead of finding out later. Secrets can hurt more then help. Often it is the best thing to tell and get out. And if the person is so closed and offended by your condition then I would move on to a new and different person. One that does indeed accept the other for who they are and not what they have.

I do truly hope this better assist in answering your question.
