According to the symptoms that you have just given me, it is very likely that you have a disorder called "TMJ". This is tempomandibular joint disease or disorder. This is caused from misalignment of the teeth, and grinding or clenching your teeth at night or during the day. It will cause all sorts of problems. Usually the symptoms are jaw pain, ear pain, back pain, neck pain, sometimes headaches. You do not have to have all the symptoms. My sister is a dentist and I have seen her diagnose this many many times. Alot of times you will hear your jaw pop when you open and close it. There is really no cure for this. I have this myself. You really need to see a dentist. They usually will prescribe a muscle relaxer at night to help loosen up the muscles in your jaw. The dentist cannot continue to refill this, but your regular doctor can. Also there is a wonderful splint that just came out that is called the "talon splint". You wear this at night and it is wonderful. It is made by space maintainers in california I think. Your dentist should know about this splint. Before you put your splint in at night, you run the clear splint under warm water for a few minutes and then when you put it in your mouth it conforms to your teeth. It is not hard like most splints, it is very comfortable to wear. Your dentist will have to order this for you. Unfortunately this splint is expensive, but well worth it. It runs anywhere from $250-500 dollars. In any case, you need to see your dentist in order to treat the symptoms. If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
