Question

kicking methadose

Sent to Health Experts August 19, 2006 3:47 a.m.

I am a methadone patient was taking 130 mg a day for the last 4 yrs. I have stopped cold turkey a week and a half ago. Even though the symptoms aren't as bad as when I first stopped, I am still suffering from severe lack of energy and depression. I am taking Xanex for the anxiety (which I don't like) and Tramadol for my other symptoms.   I read that from a couple of people who weened themselves off of an even lower dose than I was on say that for years they felt this lack of energy and depression. While I am no expert, I know it has to do with brain chemistry. My question is "how long will I be in this depression?" (If not always) "How long will it take (estimated) for my brain to get back to normal?" "Is there a chance that it will be never normal again?" Any and all advice on this will be greatly appreciated!
