Question

Diagnosed with Mycoplasma Bacteria

Sent to Health Experts August 20, 2006 11:53 a.m.

I was diagnosed with mycoplasma bacteria 3 years ago. I've been to various specialist and general doctors. I was told that I had to wait for my body to heal itself. I am suffering with chronic pain, bad memory, bad concentration, extreme fatigue and many other problems. After all the test that have been done, the only thing that comes back is that I "had" mycoplasma bacteria. Is there anyway to fight this bacteria?

Hello,

What kind of symptoms do you have? Do you have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Erythromycin or tetracyclines are often used to treat mycoplasma.

the many doctors that I have been too have said that they didn't see any signs of fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome?

Would Erythromycin or tetracycline still work if I was diagnosed with mycoplasma 3 years ago?

Also, what medical field would mycoplasma be under? Infectious disease? Pulmonary? or something else? This would help me out greatly.

I would recommend seeing an Infectious Disease specialist.

If you still have symptoms, then treatment would be beneficial.

Please let me know if you want help finding an Infectious Disease specialist in your area. Give me your city and zipcode and I can send you the names and phone numbers.

The use of antibiotics for your current condition would be considered rather controversial - One proponent of that treatment is Dr. Gabe Mirkin - a physician with a nationally syndicated radio talk show.

Here are some links to his opinions on the matter (Mycoplasma)

Mycoplasma and Chlamydia cause arthritis
