Worried about colon cancer
Sent to Health Experts August 28 02:05 PM

My stools seem to be slightly flat. They're not bloody, or thin. They just don't look fully round. The ends will be round, but the middles look flat and there are edges. Is this normal? Color is a normal light brownish. I recently started taking some fiber supplements. Oh, and some mucus can be seen in my stools every now and then.

A couple months ago I had a little diarrhea with a small amount of red mixed in. I don't know if this was from blood or from my diet the previous day (punch, tomato sauces) Since then I haven't had any red in my stools. I bought a fecal occult test and anemia test just to make sure, and both tested negative.

I'm a male, 25 years old. No family history of cancer. I am a hyperchondriac, under a lot of stress with moving into a new apartment and financial difficulties.

It's normal for mucus to be found in the stool, however, if it's a large visible amount then you may need to see your physician.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome can cause colon spasms that may flatten stool.
