Reply to Pamela's Post: I have been on Prempro (or similar) for 10 years and would like to get off. When I tried cold turkey last year, the hot flashes came back full force.

Hello,

If hot flashes are the only issue (and I certainly don't want to minimize them), then Paxil may be a good choice for you in reducing the frequency and intensity of the hot flashes.

There are other anti-depressants that are also being used to treat post menopausal symptoms as well. Here is a website that explains the use of Paxil for treatment of these symptoms. http://www.healthbanks.com/PatientPortal/Public/ArticlePromoted.aspx?ArticleID=HW5tn9511

As for the progesterone cream.....your doctor can order it as a "mixture" which is mixed by the pharmacy under the doctors prescription of the amount of progesterone desired. It is usually mixed in a vaseline base and applied to the genitalia.

If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know.
