Every so often I experience this sensation of being shocked in the side of my neck. I think it's coming from a vein or an artery. It's been happening for about a year now. I'm starting to get a little concerned now because it seems to be occuring more frequently. It doesn't really hurt, but gives me slight discomfort. i"m starting to get a little worried. Should i have any reason for concern?

Hi,
This sensation of shock is due to the stimulation of a particular nerve. The cause can be either a wrong posture, some bony point pressing the nerve or nerve compression. If it is nerve compression then the next symptom to appear is mild tingling or numbness. I would advise you to review your routine. If there is a wrong posture of sleeping or sitting or a prolonged sitting at work place, then correct that. If the symptoms increase despite the change in lifestyle then you need to show to an Orthopedecian to rule out other causes.
In the meantime I would also advise you to atke some multivitamin with B12 in it to strengthen the nerves.
