Back problem
Sent to Health Experts September 11 12:23 PM

Earlier in the summer, my lower back had tended to be randomly soar. It would also sometimes crack when I was strecthing out. Recently I was jumped by a few people when walking home late one night. I was kicked in my back a couple of times. Nothing was broken and I wasnt even bruised. Obviously I was quite soar. Its been about a week since I was attcked and the soarness has, for the most part gone away. I do notice a slight cracking in my spine when i stand up or stretch though. It doesnt hurt. I feel no sharp pains. The cracking has also begun to happen less. Are my muscles just tight or do you think that there is permamnent damage? Other than being slighltly soar (so little that I havent take tylenol in a few days) and a very very slight cracking nothing seems wrong.

Hi

Souns like you are on the mend.

Cracking in any joint is not actually a symptom of "disease."

In someone your age soft tissue "mechanical" pain is the most common type of pain.

Warning signs asr constant pain esp if keeping you awawke of symptoms of numness/weakness in the legs.

If you want someone to help you with your back then an assessment and a course of treatment from a physical therpist would be a good place to start.

Reply to Alexander Irvine's Post: Thank you for the quick reply. I tend to obsess about stuff and my imagination really begins to run away with me.I dont feel any sharp pains. just soar. And the cracking, while somewhat new and prob because of getting kicked, isnt extreme. Its not even audible, just very slight. So im hoping no serious damage was done or id be feeling a lot worse? Also, I lift @ the gym about 5 times a week, but havent since I got jumped. Is it safe to go back without aggrivating anything? I was just going to lay off the back exercises for a bit, strecth my back, and take advil.

I'd probably lay off any heavy work till you feel 100%.

Gentle exercise will help especially flexions, extensions and rotations of the lumbar area.
