Weight Gain And Hot Flashes For A 23yo Guy?

Growing up I had bad acne. Accutane was the only RX that seemed to work. I was on it for 2 years. Years later after I was off that medication, I began experiencing hot flashes and overwhelming blushing in the face and sweating of the hands. I seeked medical help. Starting off with anti-depressants. I don't remember the first RX I was on but it made me very dizzy. I gained about 40lbs during my time on it so my Doctor took me off of it. Soon my Doctor put me onto Wellbutrin (XR?). It was the slow release formula. Never really helped with what was now called G.A.D. I did lose 30lbs while on it. Also once the weight was lost my blushing and sweating nearly ceased. Unfortunately I started gaining weight back and the usual symptoms came back. My doctor said that the drug is known for plateauing and would no longer have the same effect. Which was what I was experiencing. We changed the RX to Zoloft. Which quickly did nothing for my symptoms. So the dosage was upped until we reached 200mg a day. Life wasn't nearly as stressful but my symptoms were still very uncontrollable. We then added Zanax 0.5mg to use only when I felt I was going to experience my symptoms. This formula never really worked for me. My doctor has done blood tests and found nothing abnormal as far as my thyroid is concerned. While at the same height as I have been for many years (6'2") The least I have weighed is 156lbs and the most has been what I am now 235lbs. I really don't think I am having Anxiety Attacks. I just get red easily and sweat in the face and hands easily. It seems that whenever my symptoms occur is also when I am overweight. Or Vise Verse. I have weened off of all medication and am ready to start off new. Where do you think I should start? Since I have been completely off of this medicine (3weeks), I have lost energy and am staying at the same weight. I almost want to go back onto Wellbutrin and lose the weight again because that seemed to be my most significant fight against my symptoms (extreme fast weight gain and easy blushing and sweating of the hands and face). Would you also consider this anxiety attacks? I am a 23 year old male. I almost feel as if I am going through menopause! Any suggestions on direction will be of great help. Thank you for reading this far.

Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 30.2 which is considered on the border of overweight and obesity. Your symptoms of sweating and blushing/redness are symptoms of excess production of catecholamines (adrenal hormones). I recommend that you have a complete physical exam specifically focusing on your endocrine glands. I recommend that you be examined and treated by an endocrinologist.

Excess cortisol production from the adrenal cortex results in Cushing's syndrome. This is associated with weight gain, muscle weakness, hypertension, and neuropsychiatric symptoms. The majority of patients with excess cortisol production have bilateral adrenal hyperplasia due to excess ACTH production from a pituitary adenoma. The remainder either have ectopic ACTH production from a non-pituitary source, or a neoplasm of the adrenal cortex which is usually benign.
