Question

Muscle cramps

Sent to Health Experts September 24, 2006 3:53 p.m.

My son has taken keflex for a year to treat acne, last week we had to go to a new dermatologist since the other doctor stopped taking my insurance. This new doctor prescribed sulfamethoxazole, my son began taking this medication on 9/22. Yesterday my son played a high school baseball game, then he had a footbal game about an hour after his baseball game. After the football game on the way home in the car my sons muscles began to cramp, my husband says his stomached looked like the movie the Alien, when he got home all his muscles began to cramp in his arms, legs, stomch, everywhere, the muscle in his arm cramped so bad he could not even open his hand from a fist. Is any of this related to this new medication? My son has been playing sports since he was 4 yrs old, he has played 3 and 4 baseball games in 1 day in tournaments and nothing like this has ever happened. Please advise, thank you!
