Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy)--you have a very complex set of symptoms. Here is the Differential Diagnosis, based on all the symptoms: [these are all POSSIBLE diagnoses]:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Behçet's syndrome
- Hypertensive retinopathy
- Lyme disease (Borrelia spp)
- Ischemic optic neuropathy
- Syphilis -- can cause bilateral neuroretinitis
- Sarcoidosis
- Lymphoma
- Leber's idiopathic stellate neuroretinitis
- Tuberculosis
- Cryptococcus
- Leptospirosis
- Bartonella henselae/B quintana
- Toxoplasmosis
- Viral infection -- enterovirus, mumps
- Bacterial/rickettsial infection -- pneumococcus, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Q fever
- Fungal/parasitic infection -- babesiosis (malarial-like illness, anemia: can mimic Lyme)
Unfortunately, there is no simple way to arrive at THE PRECISE diagnosis, without a detailed Physical exam (esp. Neurological exam), Lab workup, and Diagnostic imaging tests (eg-CT scan, MRI). So, I would advise you to see a Neurologist soon, in order to arrive at the exact Dx, so you can get properly treated.
Hope this helps.
Best, -Dr. Steve
