I have a large "bump" that pops out below my rib cage on the left side. I noticed it in August, but it was not painful then. I am now in constant discomfort. I am constantly "squishing" it when I slouch. It only "pops out" occasionally when I lay on my back. My boyfriend and I joke that it is my "free-range organ" or "loose riblet" but I am now concerned.

Reply to Alexander Irvine's Post: firm, and large. So large that when it pops out it can be seen through my skin.

I'm not sure if this is important (I personally don't think it is related) but I was diagnosed with nodular adinosis a couple of weeks ago and have soft bumps in my breast (although some of the larger ones have been removed)

it is also very well defined and extremely tender to the touch, although as long as it is "tucked" under my ribs and not poking out, it is only uncomfortable.

Update: I went to my doctor due to my discomfort. She says it is probably tietze syndrome. Any advice for dealing with the pain when it is poked out? Advil doesn't help.

Hi

Your symptoms are more consistent with a hernia.

You should speak with a surgeon.
