Depending on the type of ingestion yes if they were to pass this bacteria along via saliva from a wet kiss. Transmission via this route would be rare though. But yes this could easily be passed on. Let me know if you have further needs.

Reply to 4ren6's Post: OK. I guess I'll be more specific. My husband insisted on eating some cooked spinach at a reastaurant Saturday night. On Sunday he washed my breast pump. On Monday night he got some stomach cramps and today some diarhea. Now he is feelign fine. I only realized this after I pumped. So now I don't know if I should just throw out the milk that I already pumped and sterilize the pump.

If the spinach was indeed cooked then there would be no reason to have concern for e-coli to be present. He would have had symptoms prior to Monday night. I feel that your milk will be fine to use for the child. This would ultimately be your decision but cooked spinach or any food is far less likely to carry it. Read the link that I gave on transmission and symptoms. If he had the symptoms then throw it out. If not then you can decide on your own to use it or not.

Ok, to be on the safe side and not risk illness of the child I would go ahead and dispose of the milk and clean as mentioned above. It is much better to do this then the child get sick. I do not believe your husband had e-coli but to be safe go with the answer given above. Let me know if I can better assist you. Sorry on the confusion.
