Reply to HealthGuru aka Emily's Post: pediatrician said the kids symptons were just cold symptons. even the 6 week old baby whose feet turned bright red and ran a fever of about 100.2 the family physician has no clue about the sever rash on sister in law but prescribed steroids for the second time orally and cream.

Thanks for the information.

It's possible the pediatrician is correct. Often young children will bring home cold viruses and pass them along to the entire family. It would be smart for the adults to be tested for allergies as well, however. Given that the entire household is experiencing slightly unusual symptoms, there is a chance the household could be experiencing exposure to some sort of pollutant that is causing irritation (such as mold, dust, dander, etc.).

If the family members are feeling miserable right now, they should head back in to their doctors to be rechecked tomorrow. Otherwise they should wait a few days and see how they are feeling. While the symptoms of a cold can stick around for a few weeks, most people tend to feel better within a 3-6 days. As such, by the end of the week they should have a better idea if their symptoms are of a cold virus or something else.

Sincerely,
Emily
